This year’s theme, “Unite to Ignite: Celebrating our Impact,” highlights the vital role school social workers play in fostering connections, advocating for equity, and driving social and emotional growth.
This week, KWCPS celebrates Michelle Bensen and Tierra Harvey-Candia, who go above and beyond to support our students, families, and staff! They provide vital resources and guidance, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. We appreciate their dedication and compassion this week and always. Thank you for all you do!

Our Cubs love to read! Here are a few of our friends celebrating Read Across America Week by reading their favorite books. What is your favorite children's book?

Yesterday, we celebrated day three of Read Across America week! We celebrated one of our favorite characters… Pete the Cat! 🐈⬛ Mrs. Johnson read the story, Pete the cat, "I Love My White Shoes." Mrs. P. Strummed along with the ukulele during the choral parts and students used egg shakers to help keep the beat, and joined in reading at the repetitive parts! Mr. Blanton planned an awesome and fun obstacle course that students participated in, Ms. Jones, our amazing art teacher, had a wonderful memory game for students to play with partners, Mrs. Creasey had a fun create your own shoe station allowing our kiddos to use their creative skills, and Mrs. P. had a super fun sing along game with students using the bongo drum to keep a steady beat! What a fun day!

Day two of Read Across America, was filled with fun and laughter! Ms. P, Mrs. Johnson, & Mr. Blanton, entertained with a read aloud of a Mo Willems, Piggy & Elephant book, "We Are In A Book"! Next all students participated in fun activities for each of the resources to go along with the books! It was a fun day had by all! *** Ms. Jones was a trooper and took time out to review proper Tornado readiness! Thank you Ms. Jones!
